Calm Before the Storm
Venice, Italy: a gondola driver parts the calm waters of a canal over which the ornamental Bridge of Sighs spans. The mob of tourists in the background have come from the nearby Piazza San Marco to photograph the bridge, and the gondola driver will likely have to pick up a client among the mob.


Eze
Eze, France: a foggy view of the French Riviera between Nice and Monaco. In order to take this photograph, I hiked up the Friedrich Nietzsche path to a spot where the author is rumored to have composed the ending of his book, "Thus Spoke Zarathustra."
